Catherine Tyldesley shocked fans when she unveiled her 8st weight loss.

The former Coronation Street actress had been eating the “right food” and following a workout plan, she told OK! Magazine.

“I’ve been following a plan,” she said. “It’s not a diet, it’s about eating the right food and I’ve been doing a lot of exercise.”

Tyldesley, who has a one-year-old son with her husband Tom Pitfield, said she was feeling “amazing” after shedding the weight.

“I feel so much healthier and I have so much more energy,” she said. “I wanted to get healthy and feel better for myself and my son.”

The actress, who played Eva Price on the soap for seven years, said she cut out processed food and sugar as part of her weight-loss journey.

“I’ve cut out all the **** – the processed food, the sugar,” she said. “I was never a fizzy drinks person but I used to love biscuit with my tea. I’ve swapped it for a herbal tea with a bit of honey.”

Tyldesley said she also started doing a lot of exercise, including walks, running and HIIT workouts.

“I’ve been exercising loads,” she said. “I’ve been walking my dogs, running and doing a lot of HIIT [high-intensity interval training] workouts at home.”

The actress said her goal is to “be the best version” of herself for her son.

“I want to be the best role model that I can be for him,” she said. “I don’t want him growing up thinking that Mum didn’t look after herself.”
