“We would make big batches of healthy meals like stews, curries and chillis and then freeze them,” Katie said. “That way, we always had something healthy to eat when we were short on time.”

Michael also started going to the gym five times a week, while Katie did a mix of home workouts and classes at her local leisure centre.

Katie said that the key to their success was staying motivated and committed to their goals.

“I would recommend setting yourself small goals to start with,” she said. “And don’t give up if you have a bad day, week or month. Just keep going and eventually you will reach your goal.”

The couple’s hard work has paid off and they are now both happier and healthier. Katie said that she feels like a “new person” and is no longer afraid to try new things.

“I never thought I would be the type of person to go rock climbing or do a 10k race, but now I’m doing both of those things,” she said. “It just goes to show that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.”
