It’s been more than 25 years since Friends premiered on NBC, and the show is still food for thought—particularly when it comes to the diets of the six iconic characters.
A recent viral video circulating on social media claims to show a behind-the-scenes look at the food the cast was actually eating on set, and it’s not pretty. The footage, which is spliced together from different episodes, allegedly depicts Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer gorging on junk food and sugary drinks.
The supposed diet of the Friends cast has been a source of controversy before. In a 2004 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Aniston addressed the rumors that the actors were eating unhealthy food on set, saying, “We wish that we could say that we were eating all this fabulous food, but the truth is, we were eating a lot of celery and a lot of Nicorette.”
However, the new video, which has racked up millions of views on Twitter, seems to show the opposite. In one scene, Cox is seen eating a giant slice of cake, and in another, Aniston appears to be drinking a can of soda.
But the Friends star has since debunked the footage, calling it “fake news” in a recent Instagram post.
“So I guess somebody put together a fake behind-the-scenes video of the food we supposedly ate on Friends,” she wrote. “First of all, that table was never for the cast, it was for the crew. Second of all, we didn’t have crafty [services] on our show, so there was no food. Third of all, we were all on diets.”
“And lastly, we all hate celery,” she added.
Aniston isn’t the only one to speak out against the footage. In a recent tweet, Cox called the video “complete BS.”
“We were all on different diets, some people were eating sugar-free because of Candace Bergen, Lisa was on the Zone,” she wrote. “There was no crafty [services] and we were all eating celery.”
So there you have it: the truth about the diets of the Friends cast. next time you see a viral video claiming to show behind-the-scenes footage of the show, take it with a grain of salt.
Jennifer Aniston has set the record straight about a viral video that seemingly showed the star eating a very restrictive diet on the set of Friends.
The video in question, which was posted on social media earlier this week, showed Aniston eating a salad with just a few bites taken out of it. This led many to believe that the actress was eating a very restricted diet, which she has now debunked.
In an interview with InStyle, Aniston addressed the video and set the record straight about her diet.
“That was a bite of my salad,” she explained. “I was filming a scene where my character was on a diet, and that was the food that was provided for me. So, I just took a bite of my salad.”
Aniston went on to say that she does not always eat such a restricted diet and that she is “lucky” to be able to enjoy a variety of foods.
“I’m very lucky that I can eat whatever I want,” she said. “I don’t always eat like that, but for that particular scene, that’s what was required.”
The video of Aniston eating her salad has since gone viral, with many people pointing out that the actress does not seem to be doing too well on her restrictive diet.
Aniston has since responded to the criticisms, saying that she is “fine” and that the video was “taken out of context.”
“I’m fine,” she said. “It was just a bite of my salad. I’m not on a diet. I’m not starving myself. I’m perfectly happy and healthy.”
The video of Aniston has since been widelyshared on social media, with many people praising the actress for setting the record straight about her diet.
