Losing weight is one of the most popular new year’s resolutions, but it’s also one of the hardest to stick to. If you’re struggling to shed those extra pounds, you’re not alone. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to make the process easier and more effective.
Here are 10 tips to help you lose weight in 2020:
1. Set realistic goals
When it comes to weight loss, it’s important to set realistic goals. Trying to lose too much weight too quickly is often unsustainable and can lead to burnout. Instead, focus on making small, achievable changes that you can stick to long-term.
2. Find a support system
Losing weight is often easier with a support system. If you have friends or family members who are also trying to lose weight, connect with them and stay motivated together. There are also plenty of online support groups where you can find encouragement and advice from others on their weight loss journey.
3. Make healthy eating easier
One of the biggest challenges of healthy eating is finding the time and energy to cook healthy meals. If you’re short on time, there are plenty of healthy prepared meals and snacks that can make staying on track easier. You can also make healthy eating more convenient by batch cooking meals or prepping ingredients ahead of time.
4. Control your portion sizes
Overeating is one of the biggest obstacles to weight loss. To avoid overeating, control your portion sizes and make sure you’re eating slowly enough to feel full. It can also help to avoid trigger foods that are more likely to lead to overeating.
5. Get moving
Exercise is an important part of any weight loss plan. However, it’s not always easy to find the time or motivation to get moving. If you don’t enjoy traditional forms of exercise, there are plenty of other ways to get active. Find an activity that you enjoy and make it a part of your regular routine.
6. Find alternatives to unhealthy foods
If you’re trying to lose weight, you’ll need to cut out some of your favorite unhealthy foods. But that doesn’t mean you have to give them up entirely. Instead, find healthier alternatives that you can enjoy without sabotaging your weight loss efforts.
7. Avoid sugary drinks
Sugary drinks are a major contributor to weight gain. If you’re trying to lose weight, eliminate sugary drinks from your diet and replace them with water or unsweetened beverages.
8. Avoid eating late at night
Eating late at night is often a recipe for weight gain. If you’re trying to lose weight, avoid eating anything after dinner. If you’re hungry before bed, reach for a healthy snack like a piece of fruit or a few nuts.
9. Get enough sleep
Sleep is important for both physical and mental health. When you’re trying to lose weight, make sure you’re getting enough sleep so you’re well-rested and have the energy to make healthy choices and stick to your workout routine.
10. Make small changes
Trying to make too many changes at once is often overwhelming and can lead to failure. When you’re trying to lose weight, focus on making small changes that you can stick to long-term. Over time, these small changes will add up and help you reach your weight loss goals.
The Chase’s Mark Labbett has revealed that he often skips dinner as he’s “too shattered to eat”.
The popular quiz show host, who is known as The Beast, told The Sun that his gruelling schedule means he often doesn’t have time to eat a proper meal.
“I’m often so shattered by the time we finish filming that I don’t eat dinner,” he said.
“I’ll just have a bowl of cereal or a couple of slices of toast.”
Labbett also revealed that he sometimes struggles to sleep after a long day of filming.
“I’m not a great sleeper at the best of times, but when we’ve been filming all day I really struggle to switch off,” he said.
“I’ll usually end up watching television or playing on my phone in bed.”
Despite the challenges of his job, Labbett said he loves being a part of The Chase and doesn’t regret taking it on.
“It’s an absolutely brilliant job and I love doing it,” he said.
“I’m very lucky to be a part of such a successful show.”
